About the Wood Burning Artist (a.k.a. pyrography artist)
It took me 5 years...
...before I decided to take wood burning seriously (well, kind of seriously). That's when I started a little Etsy shop selling wood burned spoons.
Over and over, my friends and family encouraged me, saying I should start selling my art. But I didn't really believe I could.
...I took a dare.
In 2018 - another 2 years later - my sister dared me to "draw something real" - and do it on a piece of wood bigger than a cooking spoon.
If you know me, you know I can't resist a good dare.
I burned a 3 foot single stem peony, which proudly hangs in my living room. You can see it on my Instagram feed.
Now I'm hooked, and I wood burn "real" art for other people too.
"How's the business Jannie?"
Let me just say - holy cow, what a ride!!!
There have been late nights and a learning curve that rivals Mount Everest. But this has been the most satisfying career move I've ever made.
I still feel genuinely delighted and humbled every time I'm commissioned to capture a magical moment, memorialize a loved one, or draw a new baby's perfect little face.
You make me feel so honored. And your support means the world to me!
Love a good shock factor?
